Red Rings Are Caused By This

December 6, 2009 · Filed Under Gaming · Comment

Now I for one am a big fan of the Xbox 360, it is my favourite console of this generation and this is coming from someone who owns all of the main three as well as the portable ones too. Although the Xbox 360 is my favourite of the three it isnt to say that it hasnt ghad its problems, some of which havent been solved yet.

I was very lucky to get my console upon its first release along with two games, this was quite a feat considering the demand upon release. Kameo and King Kong were the first two games I received and for the time the graphics were awesome. Kameo is often seen in the bargain bin and King Kong is only bought for the easy achievements that come with it. Of course a lot of games go down in price overtime because they are now made in such large quantities.

The games are simply brilliant, it seems to be the console that poses a problem. The three rings of death or three red rings is a term that angers many of the Xbox community as it is such a pain in the arse when it happens, if you are not familar with the term it means the console is pretty much broken unless you send it off for repair.

I have actually been through two repairs, the second I really had to push to be free even though it was on the same damn console. The problem is that there are not enough fans within the console to keep it cool which is what makes the soldering melt and destroy the motherboard. You can fix the console for a short time by wrapping it in a wet towel, this will cool down the inside and keep it up and running, this tend to only work for a day or two at the most.

Simply put more fans into the system right? The problem is that it is very loud as it is, putting more fans into it will not help this. All in all it just has to be put up with until the next console is released. The repair service is free within three years purchase which is nice and it hasn’t stopped me from ordering my brand new 250GB special edition “super” elite.

It is funny how far fan accessories and a few electrical components can go isn’t it?

Wireless Power Adapter Supply Xbox 360 Network

December 4, 2009 · Filed Under Gaming · Comment

Though all videogame consoles would like to be the entertainment focus of your home, Nintendo’s Wii is marketed towards a more general audience (with which it has been wildly successful) while the Xbox 360 from Microsoft and Sony’s Playstation 3 chase the hard-core action-gaming crowd dominated by male teens and tweens, as reflected by Xbox 360 Accessories like an Xbox 360 Wireless Network Adapter.  In matters concerning hardware, the Wii is outmatched by both the Xbox and the PS3, but it’s the software that makes a game console successful or not. Thus do Microsoft and Sony’s catalogs appear rather similar, as both are gunning after the same market with a similar number of titles with a similar range of genres and gameplay.

But high numbers allow bragging rights in action-gaming, and it must also be remembered that, in the final analysis, hardware makes software possible.  (Though no one boasts of their Xbox 360 Power Supply.)  And thus it is that many may find the Xbox 360 and PS3 to be pretty similar under the hood, no matter Sony’s much-hyped “emotion engine” said to render facial expressions so realistically as to provide a more engrossing gaming experience. Nonetheless, each console does have its following of die-hard devotees who insist that major differences abound between the two. Yet it’s a safe bet that few, if any, would turn down a rival console given as a gift!

The real differences, in fact, concern those truly special features unique to each platform, as well as the different online experiences they provide. And Microsoft has a noticeably richer online experience than that of Sony, whose online service is not bad at all. But the Xbox 360 supplies a much wider experience in that regard, even though the PS3 tries very hard to make up for things through a built-in Blu-ray DVD player, WiFi web surfing, and support for Bluetooth wireless devices. To which it should be added that NetFlix on-demand is available through the Xbox 360, probably doing away with all the PS3’s multimedia advantages. But the PS3 is quite moddable by users with the technical know-how, while Microsoft tries to discourage such hobbyist tinkering under the hood.

Then there’s the issue of costs, with the PS3 selling more than the Xbox 360 due to its slightly greater number of features. Then again, if you’re a hard-core gamer, prices are probably not going to be all that big a consideration, because purchasing decisions will often be made based on software exclusive to each platform. Of course, the truly hard-core don’t care about prices at all and would simply buy both systems!

Easy Gaming And XBOX 360 Achievements

December 4, 2009 · Filed Under Gaming · Comment

The XBOX 360 achievements system is one of the key contributors to its booming success.  It’s a popular concept wherein you stack points by playing XBOX 360 games and finishing the different stages and challenges therein. Having gathered enough points you are able to exchange them for various rewards in the form of downloadable content from Microsoft. There’s a lot more to the system than this however.

Getting points is a straightforward job for veteran gamers who are at liberty to devote hours beating challenging games and accomplishments.  But what about those of us who can’t devote hours at a stretch in trying to unlock XBOX 360 achievements? Well you do not have to feel hard done by any longer.

Here’s what you can do to glean maximum points on XBOX 360 with fewer hours of playing;

For starters you can pick the easiest titles that are available for the XBOX 360. Remember that a straightforward title will mean simple gameplay aswell and some straightforward points to gain your XBOX 360 achievements. Some of the simpler games currently available are King Kong, Madden NFL, Fight Night Round three and teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, to name but a few.

Various games might consist of easy segments as well as tricky parts. Normally you get the most points for completing the tricky parts, but that may be terribly time consuming.  Try and earn as many XBOX 360 achievements as possible from the straightforward levels and you may be better off.

Ultimately, it might be a great idea to concentrate on your skills. You could be really good at sports titles and not so much at ‘first person shooters’. Therefore, get on with the soccer and throw the gun aside for now! Just for the sake of getting XBOX 360 achievements, it’s ideal not to play the games from genres you don’t prefer. You may end up with very little points but lots of disappointment instead.

There’s a lot of XBOX 360 achievements guides available online, which can give you updated info on how to maximize your points total simply. So you may want to keep an eye on these sites.

With a bit of planning and guile you can pile up the points while enjoying quality gaming time.  So best of luck with your XBOX 360 achievements and aim at total mastery!

What is the best games console out there.

November 28, 2009 · Filed Under Gaming · Comment

This is an argument that has been in debate not just for this generation of games consoles but since the beginning. Is the best consoel going to be Wii, 360 or PS3?

Althought the sales of the wii seem to be doing very well it just isnt doing anything for me at all. The major let down is not the console but the games. The games are being made to a poor standard and to the general market. Nintendo just seem to have no interest in their real fans anymore. Although there is the promised Mario Galaxy 2 and Legend of Zelda DS both seem to be complete copies of the previous game and this certainly is a first for Nintendo.

The PS3 is a good console. The only reason I really bothered with this console was for the Blu-Ray. Free is not always a positive thing. The servers and games are really laggy and the overall experience is very poor. Compared to Gears of War and Halo the PS3 exclusives are not brilliant. The PS3 wand seems to be a bit off a rip off from the Wii as well.

The Xbox 360 has to be top of the list simply because of the overall experience that is received. The games never hardly ever recieve lag simply because you pay for the service. Xbox Live seems to recieve many more updates that actually do things of importance. Project Natal is also on the way for the Xbox which hopefully will mean only one thing, domination of this generation. Microsoft seems to be focusing in on their fans rather than the market which is always a good thing.

Project Natal- Something worth looking at?

November 26, 2009 · Filed Under Gaming · Comment

Microsoft's presentation at E3 really was something special. I was getting a bit bored until my favourite director Spielberg walked onto the stage hinting at a new Microsoft gadget.

The conference was then handed over to Lionhead studios where they showed Milo off to the world. The game demo that the woman was playing enabled her to hold a conversation with a boy in the game. A lot of people have said there is no point to a lot of this but to me it seems like the future of gaming.

You are able to actually use your whole body in the games. In the Burnout Paradise demo you can pretend to hold a steering wheel with your hands and step in and out to go and stop. Penalty shootouts become more realistic with a run up and a kick that is shown as you do it on the game. This isn’t Nintendo’s attempt at motion sensing, this is full body motion sensing control. Natal is able to scan a real life object which can come in useful within the game as you can play using your own things.

If this is released in the way the videos and previews have been put forward to the public then it is going to be one of the biggest leaps in technology we have ever seen. On top of this, at the recent Tokyo game show major developers such as Sega and Capcom have both announced their backing of the hardware and this is on top of all the other major developers which include EA, Activison and of course the expected Microsoft Game Studios who are headlining the stuff.

For more information on this amazing new gadget it might be worth checking out a gadget blog.

New Need For Speed is actually a good game

November 26, 2009 · Filed Under Gaming · Comment

After just returning the rented copy of Shift I have to say it was very good. Past additions of the game have been very poor indeed. A lot of the previous editions of the Need For Speed games have actually been pretty poor.

The creators have actually scrapped all previous ideas for the titles and made the game into a proper, realistic racing experience which has actually got a chance to complete with the upcoming 360 exclusive, Forza 3.

The game itself is long lasting indeed, with hours needed to be spent on it to gain access to cars and to finish all of the races. This is without even taking in the online modes which can only mean more hours spent on the game.

This game isn’t about used cars but more about the custom made models from the likes of BMW, Toyota and every other car maker you can think of.

Need for Speed in terms of fun does actually seem a lot better than Forza but having only played the demo of Forza it might be a bit too early to tell. When it comes to thinking about Forza the graphics are a lot better and they have a bigger selection of cars.

EA has made a surprising move this year by concentrating on the driver and how the driver would feel whilst driving the car. You feel like the driver because speed is shown as a bit blurry, crashes turn the screen black and white and damage is shown on the windscreen too.

All you need to do is play the two demo's for the games and decide for yourself, you could always think about getting them both!

How to Play Xbox games on the 360 console

November 15, 2009 · Filed Under Gaming · Comment

One of the most basic problems with the ongoing improvements in gaming console technology is the issue of backwards compatibility. In the past, games from its predecessor would not be compatible with the latest version of the game console. Xbox360 games have this feature. There are ways so that you can play your Xbox games using the 360 console.

One way of allowing you to play both versions of the said games is via updating your game console through the Live system. However, it is required in this method that a broadband internet connection is present. The simple process of connecting your game unit to an available high speed connection will allow you to update your system. After connecting, all that you really have to do is to wait for the process to finish. Then, you can start playing your original Xbox360 games! By doing this, you remain updated about the latest addition to the games that are being supported by the system. Of course you will be needing a Live account, which could either be a Silver or the Gold membership package.

Another method that would to allow you to play Xbox games on your 360 console is by CD or DVD burning. This is for those who do not have a broadband internet connection. A simple dial-up connection would be adequate for the download to complete. Using this method, one could simply go to Xbox.com and download a copy of the game and burn it on a disc.

This is useful for people whose xbox consoles are not connected to a broadband internet connection. It also adds that you could get a supported copy of the game some place else, where an internet connection and a CD or DVD burner is present. This saves you from the task of having to bring the whole game console just to get the supported games. The process is nearly as simple as creating an audio cd. This should not prove to be too hard even for beginners.

The last of the methods which would allow gamers to play Xbox360 games in a 360 console would be to order it directly from Xbox.com. However, this method would only be available by Early December for some people. But then again, it may seem as the best option. The disc includes all the necessary updates needed by the system to enable it to have backwards compatibility. It will be updating the program for the backwards compatibility, which would of course also update the operating system for your game console.

I should say that this backwards compatibility feature is really ingenious. First of all, it saves gamers all that money that would be wasted. Waste of money happens because they cannot use their old games or they purchase new games. Although this feature only allows your Xbox360 and Xbox games to be played on the 360 console, it will surely be a feature that would dictate future technological developments in the gaming industry.

Unlocking Potential:Xbox 360 Mods

November 14, 2009 · Filed Under Gaming · Comment

Often, modification is employed to take anything normal and improve it to tease out heightened functions and capacities. You may be dazzled to learn that you can also alter your Xbox 360 games console.  By employing ‘Xbox 360 mods’ that are commercially available, gamers can fine-tune the appearance, as well as performance, of their Xbox 360.

What exactly are Xbox 360 mods? Performance modifiers are nothing but microchips with the express function of enhancing the performance of your Xbox 360. This microchip takes control of the running of your console and helps to perform some operations that could have been inaccessible in the unmodified version. As an example, importing a file from your Xbox 360 to your PC could only be accomplished if you employ Xbox 360 mods.

Alongside this, with the aid of Xbox 360 mods you are able to play titles which should have been formerly unplayable. This is a very critical feature of mods, because console manufacturers install certain bindings on their machines that only allow technology produced by their company to be used. So, more often than not a huge amount of your other software may be wasted, but for the use of Xbox 360 mods. Furthermore, videogame software is coded by region and so a game released for the Japanese region may only be functional with an Xbox 360 over there. Xbox 360 mods ensure that these titles can be enjoyed on any console, anywhere on earth, provided it is modified beforehand.

So, even if manufacturers are placing limitations into the Xbox 360 to stop illegal software from being played, they are actually preventing gamers from playing other such legal software that they may own. This is leading gamers to seek out modifiers all over the world.

Furthermore, if you reckon that Xbox 360 is only available in boring colors then you might be set for a surprise. Different editions of Xbox 360 are coming out along with new titles as a total promotional package.  So don’t be dumbfounded if the Xbox 360 resembles the starship from your favourite game, complete with strip lights on the sides. Some of these altered Xboxs look quite cool while the rest might come across a bit ludicrous. But {one thing’s} certain – these visual  Xbox 360 mods will make your machine stand out from the crowd.

Therefore, if you’d like your console to rock in terms of performance as well as looks, get your Xbox 360 mods straight away!
