Xbox Portable?
What about an Xbox Portable
As far as gaming superpowers go, two of the three have released a portable gaming system. With Sony Computer Entertainment and Nintendo Co. coming out with portable gaming systems one would think that Microsoft would follow suit with a portable Xbox. But this is not likely to happen any time in the near future. Microsoft has stated time and time again that they want to focus their efforts on the Xbox itself. Microsoft feels that releasing a portable Xbox would be too big of a task at this time, and would take away from their efforts on Xbox. They are more interested in making their Xbox investment number one, and turning a huge profit that way.
Microsoft executives have become nothing more than interested bystanders in the portable gaming industry. Even though Sony has had a lot of success in the portable gaming department with its PSP, they still have a tough road ahead of them. They are trailing the Nintendo GameBoy Advance in the hand-held gaming market, and are having a hard time closing the gap.
As yet, there are no plans for a portable Xbox. But that is not to say that this will not happen sometime in the near future. Microsoft may just be keeping their plans close to their chest as to not tip anybody else off. If this is the case Microsoft will surely have their work cut out for them. There are still many kinks that need to be worked out in the standard Xbox, and diving into the portable market would offer many new challenges.
Many internet message boards are talking about the possibility of a portable version. There is definitely a market; it is just a matter of whether or not Microsoft ever decides to jump in. You can check out some comments on this matter at http://forum.teamxbox.com/showthread.php?t=320249.
If a portable Xbox is in conception, it will be very interesting to see what Microsoft comes up with. I guess we will all have to sit back and wait.
